Dental Services
In the early stages of periodontal diseases, or as a first stage in treating more advanced disease,
it is important to remove the bacteria and tartar that accumulates below the
gumline. This allows the gingiva, or gum tissue, to heal and shrink. Sometimes
this is accompanied by the administration of a local antibiotic into the space
between the gum and the tooth.
We can address more advanced situations where there is bone loss
and frequently save teeth by creating and environment that you can
clean with a toothbrush and dental floss.
Many times the gum covers more of the tooth than it should and this can
be esthetically displeasing. Other situations include improper position of the
gum tissue in many ways that can frequently be corrected.
When a tooth breaks below the gumline, or there is decay that extends below
the gumline, your dentist is not able to restore the tooth without us doing
something to expose more tooth structure.
There are situations where the gum has receded and the protective pink gum is
lost. We can add more gum tissue to make these areas healthy and last
longer.
We can correct situations where there is recession of the gum
where it is esthetically undesirable or there is sensitivity of the
tooth by replacing gum tissue with either your own tissue or with
Alloderm, which is provided by a certified tissue bank.
We can replace missing teeth with dental implants in most circumstances. We
work closely with your dentist to determine the optimum course of treatment.
After a tooth is extracted, the bone around it starts to recede, both
vertically and horizontally. When a significant amount of time has passed, it
becomes necessary to rebuild the bone in order to either provide implants to
restore this area or to improve esthetics when a fixed bridge is desired.
We do this in order to prevent the previous item from occurring. Since bone
recedes after tooth extraction, we usually recommend placing a bone graft either
at the time of extraction or shortly after in order to preserve the bone for
later implant placement.
Snoring and obstructive sleep apnea are very common disorders.
Snoring only disturbs the bed partner, but sleep apnea can be
life-threatening. Oral appliances are an effective and
comfortable solution and is recommended by the American Academy of
Sleep Medicine as a first line treatment for mild and moderate
sleep apnea as well as a second line treatment for severe sleep
apnea for people who can't tolerate CPAP.
We treat pain and clicking of the TM Joints utilizing
appliance therapy.
We can adjust the way your teeth come together when the
relationship of your upper and lower teeth is damaging and
traumatic. Sometimes loose teeth are that way due to traumatic
forces that can be corrected. Some TMJ disorders can also be
addressed by adjusting the bite.
After active periodontal treatment is completed it is essential
to be seen every 3-4 months for maintenance, where the dental
hygienist cleans your teeth and we check your pockets and tooth
mobility, check for oral cancer and any other concerns. We have
hygienists with excellent training and every patient is seen by Dr.
Rosen.
Dr. Rosen has been certified by DOCS to provide oral sedation in a safe environment.
